Who we are and what this covers
LEV/WORKS is an independent studio operated by Lee. In this policy, “the app”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to LEV/WORKS Couch to 5K and LEV/WORKS as its developer.
The app does not require a LEV/WORKS account and does not provide cloud synchronisation. We do not operate an app backend that receives your training progress or saved routes.
Information stored locally by the app
The app stores the following information in its private storage so its features work:
- completed programme days and leg-strength checklist items;
- the currently selected day and active timer position;
- reminder, theme, route-tracking and preferred music-app settings;
- a local indication that Google Play has confirmed the ad-free purchase; and
- optional route points, timestamps, accuracy, distance and pace information.
This may include health-and-fitness information about your exercise, but it remains in the app's private storage and is not sent to LEV/WORKS. Android backup is disabled for the app.
Optional location and route tracking
Route tracking is off by default. If you enable it and start a run, the app asks for precise and approximate location permission. If you grant permission, location is recorded only during the user-started route session, including while that foreground session continues with the screen locked or another app open.
Route coordinates are saved as local files in the app's private storage. LEV/WORKS does not receive, upload, sell or use those routes for advertising. Google Play Services supplies the Android location functionality and may process device information under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
You can deny or revoke location permission in Android settings and continue using the programme without route tracking.
Advertising and consent choices
The free version displays a small banner supplied by Google Mobile Ads. Before adverts are requested, Google's User Messaging Platform checks whether a consent message or privacy options are required for your region. Where required, the app provides an “Advertising privacy choices” control in Settings.
Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares:
- your device IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
- app and advertising interactions, such as launches, taps and views;
- diagnostic information about app and SDK performance; and
- device or account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID where available.
Google uses this information for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, and says it is encrypted in transit. The app does not give your saved GPS routes to Google Mobile Ads.
Google Play purchase information
The app offers a one-off “Remove adverts” purchase through Google Play. Google processes your payment and purchase account information. The app receives product details, purchase status and a purchase token so it can confirm and acknowledge the entitlement. It stores only a local ad-free status between checks and does not send purchase information to a LEV/WORKS server.
Google Play remains the source of truth and may restore the entitlement after reinstalling the app or moving to another device.
Notifications, speech and external music apps
Daily reminders are scheduled locally using Android notifications. You can disable reminders in the app and revoke notification permission in Android settings. Spoken timer cues use the text-to-speech service installed on your device.
If you choose Spotify or YouTube Music, the app can open that external app. During a live session, play, pause and skip controls send standard media commands to whatever is already playing on your device. LEV/WORKS Couch to 5K does not connect to a music account, store a playlist link or receive listening data. The external provider's own terms and privacy policy apply when you use its app.
Retention, deletion and security
Local progress, preferences and completed routes remain until they are changed, overwritten, cleared through Android's app-storage controls or removed by uninstalling the app. Because LEV/WORKS does not receive this local information, we cannot view, recover or delete it remotely.
Android's private app storage is used to reduce access by other apps. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Information processed by Google is retained and protected according to Google's policies and your account or consent settings.
Your choices and rights
- Use the programme without creating an account.
- Keep route tracking off or revoke location permission at any time.
- Disable notifications and reminders.
- Review advertising privacy choices in the app when the control is required.
- Reset or delete local information by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- Use Android and Google account controls to reset or delete advertising identifiers and manage Google data.
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use it only to respond, investigate the issue and keep a reasonable support record. You can ask us to delete that correspondence, subject to any legal requirement to retain it.
Depending on where you live, data-protection law may give you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or complaint. Contact us if you want to exercise a right concerning information held by LEV/WORKS.
Children and safe use
The app is a general fitness tool and is not specifically directed at children under 13. Anyone who is not old enough to make their own privacy and exercise decisions should use it only with a parent or guardian. The app is a training aid, not medical advice.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app, its third-party services or legal requirements change. The effective date and version at the top will be revised when that happens.
